Ethics and Policies

Journal of Applied AI and Cybersecurity Innovations (JAACI) is committed to upholding the highest standards of ethics in scholarly publishing. Authors, reviewers, and editors are expected to follow rigorous ethical guidelines throughout the research, submission, and publication process. The journal adheres to the principles and best practices outlined by the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE).

1. Ethics in Publishing

Authors must ensure that their submissions are original, accurate, and properly cited. Plagiarism, duplication, data falsification, and other forms of misconduct are not tolerated. Suspected violations will be investigated according to COPE procedures.

2. Submission Declaration

By submitting a manuscript, authors confirm that:

  • The work is original and not under review elsewhere.
  • All listed authors approved the manuscript.
  • All necessary permissions for third-party content are secured.

3. Authorship

All authors must meet authorship criteria: substantial contributions to the work, involvement in drafting or critical revision, final approval of the version to be published, and accountability for all aspects of the manuscript.

Those who contributed but do not meet authorship criteria should be listed in the Acknowledgments section.

4. Changes to Authorship

Authors are expected to consider carefully the list and order of authors before submitting their manuscript and provide the definitive list of authors at the time of the original submission.

Any addition, deletion or rearrangement of author names in the authorship list should be made only before the manuscript has been accepted and only if approved by the journal Editor. To request such a change, the Editor must receive the following from the corresponding author:

  • (a) The reason for the change in author list
  • (b) Written confirmation (email or letter) from all authors, including the author being added or removed, that they agree with the change

Only in exceptional circumstances will the Editor consider the addition, deletion or rearrangement of authors after the manuscript has been accepted. During review of such requests, publication of the manuscript will be suspended. If the manuscript has already been published online, approved changes will require the publication of a corrigendum.

5. Declaration of Competing Interests

Authors must disclose all financial or personal relationships that could influence their work. A “Declaration of Competing Interests” section must be included in the manuscript.

6. Funding Sources

Authors must clearly acknowledge all funding sources that supported the research. If no funding was received, this must be explicitly stated.

7. Declaration of Generative AI in Scientific Writing

If generative AI tools (ChatGPT, Copilot) were used to assist in writing or preparing any part of the manuscript, their use must be disclosed. Authors remain fully responsible for the content and must ensure originality, accuracy, and appropriate citations.

9. Use of Inclusive Language

Submissions must use inclusive, non-discriminatory language. Authors should avoid biased terms relating to gender, race, ethnicity, disability, or age, and instead adopt neutral and respectful language throughout.

10. Jurisdictional Claims

Maps, affiliations, and institutional names should reflect neutral geopolitical terminology. The journal does not take positions on territorial claims.

11. Studies in Humans

Studies involving human participants must include a statement confirming:

  • Approval by an appropriate ethics committee
  • Compliance with the Declaration of Helsinki or equivalent ethical standards

12. Informed Consent and Patient Details

Where applicable, authors must confirm that informed consent was obtained from all human participants for participation and publication of identifying information. Personal data must be anonymized, and a consent statement included in the manuscript.

13. Clinical Trials

All clinical trials must be registered in a publicly accessible registry (ClinicalTrials.gov, WHO ICTRP). The trial registration number and date must be provided in the manuscript.
